Canada:
It’s finally here! The moment every Canadian longs for after a long winter – springtime!

Springtime in Canada is a bittersweet event, from the horror’s of muddy shilohs tracking through the house, to the revelation of every remaining “shiloh mess” as the snow recedes, and of course the challenges of females in heat with intact males in the house.

But, it also marks a great time of year when Canadians begin to emerge from their winter hibernation and return to life in the great outdoors, much of the time spent with our furry shiloh friends.

Here in Ontario spring means one thing… The Toronto Sportsmen Show! From March 15th-19th we will have a booth representing shilohs in Canada (staffed by Ken Taylor of Shamrock Shilohs, myself, and others). Then, the main event, the RBCSWO show on Saturday and Sunday, featuring our second ISSDC Canada Shiloh Specialty (with plaques sponsored by various Canadian breeders and produced by Cher Bender of Keystone Shilohs). Again this year we expect a great turn out with old faces and new. With folks driving in from as far away as Halifax (Jayne Polem – Atlantic Shilohs), Ottawa (Leslie Percy – Whisperwood Shilohs), and from various parts of the USA.

The Toronto Sportsmen Show kicks off the 2006 Ontario confirmation show circuit and will be followed by a brand new show on May 13th/14th – Tillsonburg! For the rest of the RBCSWO show schedule visit their website at http://rbcswo.hypermart.net.

The Canadian chapter will also be showcasing our Shiloh Shepherds at the All About Pets show, April 11, 12 and 13th at the International Center (http://www.pets-show.com) . If you are in the area and would like to participate in our booth, we’d love to have you! Please contact Dave Herz for details.

In addition to the RBCSWO shows, the recently formed RBPCO begins their season with Detection Dog seminars, Canine Good Citizen testing, Obedience trails, and Herding Instinct testing. A number of Canadian dogs have already earned their HIC titles and are furthering their shilohs in other areas! Visit the club’s website for further details (http://www.rbpco.com).

The ISSDC-Canada is seeking volunteers to assist with various functions and help get our new club off the ground. We will hold elections this spring, along with nominations for various positions. If you’re interested in helping develop the club and support our activities, please email us at info@shilohshepherds.ca

SouthEast:
ISSDC SE is rolling right along already! Thanks to everyone for coming out to the CGCs at Childhelp in February. It was great seeing everyone again. The babies have all grown so much!

It was a bit chilly so we did the testing in the indoor arena. Marti was our tester and she did a great job showing the children at the village how she was scoring the tests and having them help demonstrate the steps involved.

Those that passed were:

Wilelm Agustus (Gus) with his mom, Bonnie Sharp,
Chad, with his dad, Jamie Dingus, and
GiGi, with her dad, Richard Shumaker.

Congratulations to all of you!!! Great job, guys! Those of us that were just practicing will come back next summer and take the test again.

The end of the month is the Super Pet Expo in Chantilly Va. We have a booth so we can show off our dogs in grand fashion. Lots of people are planning to bring their Shilohs to show them off, so I hope we see the rest of you out there too. You can check it out here http://www.superpetexpo.com/shows/index.php.

We also have an NCA Shiloh specialty planned for June 24th at Childhelp Village in Lignum, Va. All Shilohs are welcome to register and show. We hope everyone comes out to cheer all the beautiful Shilohs on!

If you have any questions please email me or Heather O. Gloria@NobleAcres.com or heather@sequoiashepherds.com.

SouthWest:
On January 14th, the first official meeting of the ISSDC-SW was held in Houston, Texas. It was held in the parking lot of the clinic holding the annual well-dog clinic testing hearts, eyes and blood work. Memberships to the ISSDC and the ISSDC-SW were promoted during our short meeting. Also discussed were the goals we wanted to reach in our chapter. And an upcoming election of officers.

We are working with the NKC to hold several Shiloh Specialties this year. Our NKC representative, Ron Collins, is every excited about helping us to hold our specialty shows.

I would like to encourage everyone in our chapter area to join our local chapter at their earliest convenience. Our first year membership is free. An online membership application is available on our ISSDC website.
